Following this research, red wine can actually be part of a diabetic diet plan when consumed in moderation.

Scientists at Purdue University have found that red wine can actually fight weight gain and obesity. Piceatannol, a compound found in grapes and other fruits, is able to block the fat cell’s ability to develop and grow, meaning it alters the cell and prevents weight gain.
