Summer has finally arrived, and the team at The Two Essentials is celebrating the warm weather with some iced coffee! I mean, cold coffee can be pretty refreshing on its own, but if you’re hosting a special event or maybe fancy a twist, why not true these exciting recipes for iced coffee drinks?!

Cold Brew Lemonade

We’re kicking off our recipe list with a twist on a summer classic! A Cold Brew Lemonade is a sweet yet tart blend of lemon juice and a cold brew of coffee. That means if you’re a fan of a cold brew, this refreshing drink will be your new summer classic.

Begin by making the lemon base – combining lemon juice, syrup and water in a glass. To match Two Essentials recipe, you want your lemonade to be slightly tart and not too sweet.

Once you have your lemonade flavour, fill your cup to the brim with ice, top with your iced coffee AND VOILA! Give your drink a quick stir, take a few Instagram pictures and kick back with your cool glass of Iced Coffee Lemonade.

Espresso & Tonic

We couldn’t think of a more perfect combination – a bitter espresso paired with bitter tonic! Espresso tonics are a growing trend right now so you’re bound to encounter them somewhere this summer, maybe you will be the one starting the trend!

A simple recipe – all you have to do is fill ¾ of your glass with tonic water before adding iced coffee and ice cubes to your glass. Make sure to slowly pour the espresso over the ice, as they are prone to fizzing if you combine them too fast!

Breakfast in Sicily

They say eat like a King for breakfast, and this sure is a breakfast made for Kings! Combining coffee, Averna and a variety of fruits, this drink is made for long summer evenings in the garden. When combined with the right coffee, this drink will taste like a blend of Coca Cola, orange and coffee.

Start by pouring a shot of Averna – an Italian amaro, a sweet yet bitter herbal liqueur – into your glass. After this, immediately add ice to your glass and stir until fully melted. Then add a shot of espresso, 60ml of soda and syrup of your choice. Garnish the drink with a strip of citrus (orange or grapefruit work extremely well!) peel over the glass.
